Why Mileage Matters More in 2026

Motorcycles

Indian bike buyers are now focusing on mileage due to increasing petrol costs. A bike with a mileage of 70+ kmpl can help save thousands of rupees every year compared to other bikes. The latest technology such as fuel injection, idle start-stop technology, and efficient combustion has made today’s bikes the most fuel-efficient bikes ever.

With fuel prices touching new heights every day, Indian bikers are now giving utmost importance to mileage while purchasing a bike. The best part? 2026 is going to witness some of the most fuel-efficient bikes, loaded with advanced technology and offering outstanding mileage. Whether you are a daily commuter or a delivery serviceman, this is your ultimate guide to the best mileage bikes available in India for 2026.

Bajaj Freedom 125 – 102 km/kg (CNG)

The Bajaj Freedom 125 currently stands as the most fuel-efficient motorcycle on sale in India, thanks to its dual-fuel CNG setup. Bajaj claims the motorcycle can return up to 102 km/kg in CNG mode. The CNG-only range of the motorcycle is 202 kilometres, and in combination with the petrol tank, the Freedom is claimed to have a range of up to 330 kilometres.

The Freedom 125 is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder engine producing 9.3 bhp and 9.7 Nm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Apart from its fuel efficiency, the Freedom also stands out for being the first production motorcycle globally to use a factory-fitted CNG system. Prices for the Freedom currently start at Rs 91,566 (ex-showroom).

TVS Sport – Up To 80 kmpl

The TVS Sport remains one of the most fuel-efficient petrol motorcycles in the country. TVS claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 80 kmpl for the commuter.

Powering the bike is a 109.7cc single-cylinder engine producing 8.1 bhp and 8.7 Nm. Its lightweight construction and economy-focused gearing continue to make it one of the most popular budget commuters in the country. Prices for the Sport currently start at Rs 57,950 (ex-showroom).

Bajaj Platina 100 – up to 75 kmpl

Motorcycles

Another long-running mileage-focused commuter, the Bajaj Platina 100, continues to offer impressive fuel economy figures. Bajaj claims up to 75 kmpl for the motorcycle.

The Platina uses a 102cc single-cylinder engine developing 7.7 bhp and 8.3 Nm. Its comfort-oriented suspension setup and soft seat have also helped it maintain popularity among daily commuters. The Platina is priced at Rs 68,711 (ex-showroom).

Hero Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 – 70 kmpl

Hero MotoCorp’s Splendor lineup continues to be among the highest-selling motorcycles in India, and the newer Splendor Plus Xtec 2.0 remains one of the most fuel-efficient options in the segment. Hero claims an ARAI-tested mileage of 70 kmpl.

The bike uses a 97.2cc engine producing around 7.9 bhp and 8.05 Nm, paired with Hero’s i3S idle-stop technology aimed at improving fuel efficiency further. This one is priced at Rs 83,214 (ex-showroom).

Hero Splendor Plus – 70 kmpl

The standard Hero Splendor Plus continues to be a benchmark in the commuter motorcycle space. The motorcycle has an ARAI-claimed mileage figure of 70 kmpl.

Mechanically, it shares the same 97.2cc air-cooled engine as the Xtec version and focuses heavily on low running costs, reliability and ease of maintenance. This one is priced from Rs 77,557 (ex-showroom) as of May 2026.

Expected Variants & Features

The spotted motorcycle is expected to be the base variant of the upcoming updated Pulsar NS125. Just like the recently launched Pulsar 125, which comes in two variants having a TFT and an LCD console, we expect the updated NS125 to have a similar lineup. The NS125 will likely follow a similar approach, with the base variant getting the LCD console, while the higher-spec variant could get a TFT display and additional connected features.

Also, the current Pulsar NS 125 is sold in two variants – one that gets ABS, and the other that doesn’t. The bike seen here doesn’t have ABS ring on both wheels, indicating that this could be the non-ABS variant. The higher variant with the TFT display, could be the one with single-channel ABS.

Engine & Hardware

Motorcycles

Mechanically, the updated Pulsar NS125 is expected to remain unchanged. It should continue to be powered by the 124.45cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine makes 12 PS and 11 Nm.

The suspension and braking hardware are also expected to remain unchanged, with the bike likely to continue with a telescopic fork and a monoshock.

BikeDekho Says

While the addition of a new console and new colours are a welcome addition, we would like it if Bajaj updates the NS125 with the new engine found in the Pulsar 125. The reason being, the new engine makes slightly more power and torque (0.1 PS and 0.4 Nm) than the current engine on the NS125.

All said and done, it’s been quite some time since the NS125 got a proper update, and we hope it does so now. The NS has always been a sportier bike than the standard Pulsar,  and with the new updates we can expect the same from the NS125.

How to Choose the Best 350cc Bike in India

Selecting the right motorcycle from this segment depends heavily on your primary riding style and priorities. Consider the following factors before making a decision:

  • Budget: Factor in the on-road price, which includes RTO registration and insurance, not just the ex-showroom 350cc bike price in India.
  • Daily Usage: If your focus is urban navigation, models like the Hunter 350 or Jawa 42 FJ offer relatively manageable handling for city riding.
  • Mileage: Royal Enfield J-series models and Honda CB350 motorcycles offer competitive fuel efficiency for their engine size. Actual mileage will vary depending on traffic, riding style, road conditions and maintenance.
  • Performance: If maximum power and modern features like liquid cooling are your priority, the Jawa 350 and Yezdi models offer a noticeable performance advantage.
  • Comfort and Ergonomics: Test ride the bike to ensure the seat height, handlebar reach and footpeg placement match your riding posture, especially for long-distance touring.
  • Features and Safety: Look for essential modern safety features like dual-channel ABS and traction control, which are now standard on most premium models in this segment.
  • Service Network: Consider the proximity and reputation of authorized service centers in your area, as this impacts long-term ownership convenience.
  • Maintenance Costs: Modern 350cc motorcycles are designed for reliability, but scheduled servicing and consumable costs can vary between brands.

Price vs Value: Is It Worth It?

The Splendor XTEC 2.0 on road price in Delhi typically lands in a competitive range, depending on variant and insurance.

Now, that might seem slightly higher than entry-level commuters.

But here’s the trade-off:

  • Better mileage consistency
  • Smart features
  • Higher resale value
  • Proven reliability

It’s less about “cheap” and more about “smart spending.”
